Xfator vs beck
Xfactor is a TV show run by a Simon cowl (syco) who is part of Sony records one of the major record companies, the main purpose of the show is to primarily find “new talent” but it is also used to promote songs and as a way of producing music distributing it and exchanging it. The type of artist that often wins xfactor is the same ever year which is a pop star the reason for this is because pop music is a product that sales, can make a lot of money and carries a large fan base.
Because xfactor is part of such a large record label they can use music from over artists under their label to promote their new artists and to bring their old songs back in to popularity. A massive problem with this is that the music that is produced is the same as the music that has already been produced and is just constantly being recycled and there is never any new unique music being produced and can come across as boring. Not only can they use music and promote on xfactor (syco TV) but they can also use their music in films that are produced by syco film.
If you compare the Xfactor to someone like Beck Hansen who as a DIY (do it yourself) artist who originally made it big with a huge underground popularity, by creating musical collages of a wide range of styles. One of becks most unique ideas was to produce an album called the song write which was a whole album made of purely sheet music that he made available to his fans to produce themselves in which ever way they decided to interpret it which opens up the market because they can produce it in any genre or style they like.
Beck has also similar to xfactor designed a unique way of producing, distributing and exchanging his music and he does this whilst getting his fans and followers involved. Both xfactor and beck although very different approaches to the music industry on style and ideas they both have learnt that in this day and age of technology where people can access what they want when they want and are easily distracted they have to get their fans and followers involved xfactor has done this though voting and getting their fans and followers by giving them the control and power over what they want to see on, where as beck as done it by giving his fans the ability to produce and even possible make money of f of has music.

My idea

I have chosen to pitch the idea of a crime/mystery thriller this is because I have more knowledge of these sub-genres, this is due to my favorite films being crime thrillers such as The Sweeney directed by Nick Love, The Bourne Ultimatum directed by Paul Greengrass and Taken directed by Pierre Morel

Title:
Police Brutality

Setting:
london

Plot:
a murder occurs in the city of london and the body is found washed up on the embankment, one of London's best detectives is put on the case, but as he starts to investigate what seems like a standard murder he discovers, that he has been set up and that all the evidence points towards him and as police turn up at his house to take him in for questioning, he slips out though the back and sets about under covering solving the mystery him self.

Enigma code
why has the detective been set up and who by?

Target Audience:
male 17-25

Appeal to target audience:
his appeals to the target audience because it introduce some of the key features this audience look for such as murder, crime, mystery and suspense.

Influences

The Sweeney directed by Nick Love

The Bourne Ultimatum directed by Paul Greengrass

setting for a thriller

The reason I believe this a good example of thriller film setting is because it is a narrow out of the  alley where no one goes and there is no where to go once your in side and there for there is no where to run if there crime being committed.  if i was to use this as my setting it would be the place at which the crime takes place and would be set at night in the pitch black all apart from one street lamp at the end of the alley and the weather would be rain to set the mood.

what is a thriller film ?

Films in the thriller genre are often refereed to as a horror films when in fact they a completely different types of film although they can sometimes have some of the same aspects to them.

So wheat exactly makes a thriller film. A thriller films purpose is to keep the viewer on the edge of their seats engulfed in suspense and mystery, making it the viewers job to solve the mystery. One of the main ways directors can instantly alert the viewers that their is going to be mystery or something to solve is with the us of characters, this is one of they features to a thriller because the type of charters you will find are ones such as doctors, lawyers, police, detectives, criminals, psychopaths and many more.

The reason for this is to create a intelligent adult world were the viewer believes what  is happening in front of them keeping their attention on screen and no where else.

The main feature of thriller film for me is the twist, i think this is the main feature of thriller film because just when you think you have solved the mystery your told new information or see something that complete contradicts the ideas you had at points all brand new ones in your head keeping fixated on screen begging to no the answer to the mystery.

The setting for a thriller film is often an intelligent world such as city and the place in which the crime takes place is often somewhere like an ally where no one is around and the lighting is would most likely be dark normally and at night under a street light.

most thriller films are actually sub-genres of a thriller such as a crime thriller, Sifi-thriller, action-thriller, horror-thriller and so on. this is because the story of a thriller often follows the rules of another film genre but it is the way the film is portrayed the makes it a thriller such as the characters, twits and the way the audience is made to think and feel about the the film.

In conclusion a thriller film is a film filled with mystery, suspense anxiety and twists, BUT A THRILLER IS NOT A HORROR FILM.
